In 2024, WPL partnered with the Eastside Branch community to launch
a seed library, giving customers access to free seeds for their home
gardens. Community members shared their preferences, leading to a
diverse collection that includes vegetables, herbs, and native pollinator
昀氀owers.
We also gathered feedback on our Naturespace, which inspired several
new features: accessible raised-bed planters, interactive water tables,
and intergenerational programming that brings all ages together.
Thanks to a grant from the David Suzuki Foundation, youth-led
environmental initiatives empowered young people to take on peerteaching roles—boosting environmental literacy across the community.
In partnership with Seeds of Diversity, we hosted seed-saving workshops
that brought together gardeners of all ages to explore food history, earth
science, and food security—strengthening community knowledge and
connection.
