Between the
Silence,
a Sonnet
by Priyanshi Dokania
Your eyes, so brown, would warm the coldest night,
And in your smile, the world seemed soft and wide.
But time, with silent steps, began its 昀氀ight,
And what was once so close, now far did slide.
I remember how we’d talk for hours still,
Each word a thread, weaving a lasting dream.
But now those threads unravel, soft and still,
As though the fabric’s torn from its seam.
I reach for you, but 昀椀nd your hand withdrawn,
Like autumn leaves that fall before the frost.
Our once-shared paths now seem to lead beyond,
A journey where we’ve both become lost.
Yet still I cherish what we might have been,
Though now, it seems, our story 昀椀nds its end.
